Dr. Paul Hill has been conducting orchestras and choirs as a church and community musician for well over 33 years. Dr. Hill’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Music (BM) from Samford University, a Master of Church Music (MCM) from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from Shenandoah Conservatory.
His recent research has focused on music literacy among adults in choirs, evaluating the state of music literacy as well as providing resources to improve music literacy within those same choirs. Both of these subjects received national attention through an article written by Dr. Hill and published in the December 2009 issue of the ACDA (American Choral Director’s Association) Choral Journal.
He has published articles in other music and church music magazines. He has published a curriculum designed to assist conductors improve the music literacy in students and adults entitled, Basic Music Reading Skills Course.
